Prayer & Fasting 9/2/20
Good Morning Living Grace,
Today we begin our journey of prayer and fasting and it has been overwhelming to hear that so many of you are excited to participate with us. I wanted to take a moment to direct our prayers for today.
Let me begin with a verse from Acts. The context of this verse is the appointment of elders by Paul and Barnabas on their missionary journey. Because of this serious and important task of appointing the leaders of the church, they did not take this step lightly. What did they do in preparation for this act? They prayed and fasted.
"And then they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed." Acts 14:23
As we take seriously these requests before us and understand the gravity of our own spiritual growth and outreach into this community and around the world, let us spend this day, September 2nd, in prayer and fasting as you are able. Let us pray for these things today:
1. Pray for the Lord to give you a greater hunger to know His Word and to grow in your own intimacy with Him.
2. Pray for Chad and Martha and Josh and Malanie who are out in the their respective fields today doing the hard work of taking the gospel to the nations.
3. Pray for those in our own community to come to Jesus as their Savior and pray that you may be bold in your own witness in proclaiming the gospel, even today.
4. Pray for the Lord's will to be done in regard to us securing a loan for the new building.
I leave you with this thought from the mouth of God through the prophet Joel:
"Even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning." Joel 2:12
